how to enjoy online shopping

This is the first in a series of articles and tips that show you how to enjoy your online shopping experience.

As both a buyer and a successful seller on the internet since 1998, I have the advantage of viewing things from both perspectives.  The buyer and the seller both share the responsibility in making sure that the online shopping experience is a satisfying one.  Here's how you can do your part as a shopper:

PART 1 - Educate Yourself!

With the price of gasoline creeping higher every day, it only makes good financial sense to do some of your shopping online.

A happy consumer is an educated consumer.  Everyone's heard the horror stories about getting ripped off by an internet seller or of someone having their identity stolen because they put their credit card number online.

There's no doubt about it--those things happen.  It's scary-sounding stuff if you're new to using the internet or to shopping and conducting personal business online.  (Some of it's pretty scary stuff to experienced users too!)

Don't let your fear stop you from enjoying the convenience that online shopping brings.

Perhaps you've made some purchases online already, but were disappointed with what you received, or were confused about who you were buying from.  Perhaps you thought it was just too much trouble and too much stress.

You can lessen the chances of these things happening to you and learn to make online shopping work for you.  Take the time to learn a little about the incredible marketplace at your fingertips before immediately jumping into the fray with your debit card .

Educate yourself on what to expect from your online shopping experience and the things you need to do to protect yourself.

The holiday season is fast approaching.  Why not give yourself a break from the crowds, the traffic and the crowded shopping malls?  Learn how to shop online safely, find what you want, and be happy with your purchase.

Once you learn the ins and outs of online shopping, and build a little confidence in your skills, you might find that you actually enjoy the benefits that come from shopping from the comfort of your own home.
