ITALIAN SNACKSTERS recipe

This recipe is from the Pillsbury Classic Cookbook, Appetizers, Snacks & Beverages, No. 23, 1982.

ITALIAN SNACKSTERS

1 cup Pillsbury's Best All Purpose or Unbleached Flour *
2 oz. (1/2 cup) shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 tablespoon chopped pimiento
1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves, crushed
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dash ground red pepper

* Self-rising flour is not recommended.

Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.  In large bowl, combine cheeses and margarine; mix well.  Add remaining ingredients; mix well.  Divide dough in half.  On plastic wrap or waxed paper, shape dough into two 6-inch rolls.  Wrap; refrigerate several hours.

Heat oven to 375°F.  Grease cookie sheets.  Cut dough into 3/8-inch slices.  Place slices 1 inch apart on prepared cookie sheets.  Bake at 375°F. for 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.

Number of Servings: 30 snacks.
